The new in the S-DIAS I/O family designed by Sigmatek (Austria), is a 16-channel output module for pulse width modulation. The PW 161 is for switching inductive loads such as solenoid valves and relays. It has 16 digital outputs, which are designed for 0.5 or up to 1 A (when using 8 channels) and are divided into two supply groups of 8 channels each. A supply voltage of up to +48 V DC can be applied to the coils.
The user can set separate PWM ratios for the pick-up and holding phase. Per supply group, a current measuring function is implemented with which characteristic curves of the loads can be determined. For exact control of inductive loads, fast switch-off electronics are integrated into the module. Short-circuit, over current and over temperature monitoring also ensure safe operation.
As with all modules of the S-DIAS series, the PW 161 has compact dimensions of only 12.5 x 103.5 x 72 mm. The system communicates with a speed of 100 Mbit/s via the real-time Ethernet bus VARAN.
Project development and programming are also user-friendly with the object-oriented tool LASAL. For simple schematics-integration, an EPLAN macro is available.
