Altaaqa Global, a leading global provider of temporary power solutions based in Dubai, have garnered major nominations in the 2015 Platts Global Energy Awards - often referred to as the "Oscars of the energy industry." Altaaqa Global's 50 MW natural gas power plant project in Cameroon and Altaaqa's 95 MW temporary power plant project in Al Kharj have both been shortlisted for "Construction Project of the Year", one of the major and most coveted awards.
The two Zahid Group companies are among a stellar list of finalists that includes Royal Dutch Shell, ATCO Electric, Delta Rubis, DTE Energy, Fluor and Yanbu Aramco Sinopec Refining. The award, which recognizes excellence in project execution and management, will be given to the company that capitalized on a critical need or opportunity, quickly moved to propose and finance new facilities, dealt with myriad daunting issues before and during construction, and brought the project online with fiscal responsibility.
"I am proud of the achievements of both Altaaqa Global and Altaaqa Alternative Solutions in their consistent pursuit of excellence, through their respective professional teams," Fahad Y. Zahid, Chairman of both companies, said. Peter den Boogert, CEO of Altaaqa Global, added, "On behalf of Altaaqa Global's management team, I would like to extend my congratulations to everyone who made the success of our Cameroon project possible. We share this recognition, our second nomination at the Awards, with the local engineers and agencies that helped our in-house teams maintain the highest level of service and complete the project in record-breaking time."
Speaking on behalf of Altaaqa Alternative Solutions, Emad Mukhalalaty, Managing Director, said, "We are truly honored to be recognized by one of the most prestigious award-giving bodies in the industry and be in the league of the world's most prestigious companies. This award will further encourage our teams to continue providing our customers with innovative and quality solutions that meet their needs and exceed their expectations."
The winners will be announced on December 9 in New York City.
