Capable of handling difficult ID code-reading applications including those on the highest speed lines, DataMan 300 fixed-mount industrial ID reader from Cognex increases barcode read rates and speed with a new 1DMax+ algorithm, which incorporates new “Hotbars” technology. For 2D matrix and difficult-to-read DPM (Direct Part Mark) codes, reading performance has also been improved through a major upgrade of 2DMax to the 2DMax+. Set up and deployment is easier than before, with modular, controllable lighting options and a unique intelligent tuning system. Of the two models, the DataMan 300 provides 800x600 and the DataMan 302 offers 1280x1024 pixels. The latter can read very small DPM codes on small components to ensure full part traceability. The Hotbars technology uses texture to locate barcodes at any orientation, and then extracts high-resolution 1D signals for decoding. The upgraded algorithm, 2DMax+, features enhanced handling of damaged codes at high line rates, while reading poorly marked or extremely damaged codes. Integrated and controllable modular lighting and optics allow the users to purchase just one model and choose the appropriate lens for their required working distance and field of view. The controllable, field changeable lighting modules provide the best possible lighting for the parts, ensuring optimal read rates. As 2D DPM codes are inherently difficult to read due to the normal manufacturing processes that parts undergo, the new series adds a tuning feature to help form the best possible image for each part. This technology automates the settings of the integrated lighting to find the optimal light setup for the part.
