The Atlas series of battery-free load cells by farsens are employed for weight or load monitoring. These wireless and battery-free load cells will provide benefits for maintenance personnel, operations managers and accounting and finance staff. Warehouse inventory is hard to keep up to date and accurate when the stocks are granulates, bulk or liquids stored in containers, drums or sacks. The use of these passive sensor tags in a warehouse system allows for the wireless collection of inventory data for granulates, bulk and liquid products by monitoring the weight of the container, thus increasing inventory accuracy and significantly speeding up the process.
The operating principle of the battery-free load cells is based on the RFID (radio frequency identification) technology. The energy required for a measurement is transferred to the ATLAS tags via the antenna of the associated reading and display device (UHF RFID reader) so that the sensor tag requires no internal or external power supply in the traditional sense (e.g. in the form of a battery) and no external wiring as it is common for conventional sensors. Data collection is fast and effortless due to the 1.5 meter from the antenna to the load cell tags for the duration of the measurement.
