Capacitive Keypad

Composed of an interface board with intuitively operable programming software and capacitive control membranes, this capacitive keypad from Mentor can be adapted in form and function directly by the user. The control panel of choice can be created by cutting capacitive membranes into the desired form using a pair of scissors. The interface board software can be adapted to specific requirements by means of a configuration tool. The membranes are available as polymer or silver oxide versions. The transparent polymer membrane is suitable for applications requiring backlighting, where as the silver oxide membranes can be used for applications with a very high level of sensitivity to touch. Both membrane types are available as a 8x8 keypad matrix or as 2x8 single touch keys. An adhesive layer at the front of the membranes allows easy application to curved surfaces. If mounted under glass or plastic, the capacitive keys are protected against vandalism, erosive external influences and chemical. The keypads are insensitive to water and contamination through grease or dust.
