Renesas Electronics Corporation and Xilinx have announced that they will collaborate on the Xilinx’ Versal Adaptive Compute Acceleration Platform (ACAP) devices. These devices, built on 7nm technology, are extremely innovative as they are able to target the needs of various applications such as data centers, automotive, 5G wireless and defense markets.

DK Singh, Director, Systems and Solutions team at Renesas, stated, “We are thrilled to continue our collaboration with Xilinx by providing turn-key clocking and power reference boards that help system developers jumpstart their Versal ACAP designs.”

Complementarity with existing solutions

The Xilinx VCK190 evaluation kit and the Renesas VERSALDEMO1Z power reference board both feature the Xilinx Versal ACAP devices.

In particular, the VCK190 is the first evaluation kit dedicated to AI: it provides complete timing solutions like the 8A34001 ClockMatrix™ system synchronizer for IEEE1588 and eCPRI applications, 8T49N240/41 Universal Frequency Translators™ for low-jitter and flexible transceiver SerDes clocking.

The VERSALDEMO1Z power reference board, too, is complementary to Versal ACAP devices, as it supplies full power rails for its adaptable, AI and scalar engines as well as for its extended DDR memory.

Sumit Shah, Senator Director for Product Line Marketing and Management at Xilinx, commented “Through our partnership with Renesas we’re able to provide customers with pre-validated reference designs that allow them to rapidly develop applications for optimal system performance and power efficiency.”
