For Data Station Plus and Modular Controller series products, the Red Lion XCENET Ethernet expansion card isolates machine level network traffic from that of enterprise level. Thus, an engineer can simply assign a fixed IP address for the port connected to PLCs and drives, while the IT managers can either select their own IP address or use DHCP to configure the enterprise port. This allows for communication on separate networks. Supporting 10 simultaneous Ethernet and three serial protocols, the card provides a second Ethernet port for communication. The latter increases bandwidth and allows communication on two distinct Ethernet networks simultaneously without the need of an industrial router.
