Capable of transforming 200 to 900 V DC inputs into 24 V with 96 % efficiency, the Sitop PSU400M DC/DC converter from Siemens is suitable for drive applications ranging from conventional plant automation through machine tools and textile machines up to wind turbines. It can be connected to the DC link circuit of drive systems as well as to battery networks. The output voltage can be set using a potentiometer to between 24 and 28.8 V. At 24 V, the converter supplies a rated current of 20 A that, if required, can supply an additional 50 % for 5 s, enabling loads with high starting currents, such as capacitive loads, to be connected without any problems. The device has a "24 V OK" signaling contact. Designed for mounting on standard rails, the rugged converter is 90 mm wide and can be used at temperatures from -25 to 70 ºC. Housed in a metal enclosure, it withstands high levels of vibration and shock. The device’s high level of EMC fulfils a particular requirement in the DC link circuits of drives. Its 700 V input range allows larger amount of energy to be extracted from capacitors when used with stored energy features based on capacitor technology.
