Energy efficiency business Vickers Electronics has enabled the UK’s leading railway engineering company Wabtec Rail to slash its gas bill by a third. Wabtec Rail has reduced their heating gas usage by 31% and cut their CO2 emissions by 690 tonnes per year after installing one of Vickers Electronics’ energy management systems at its Doncaster site.ickers Electronics’ technology replaces conventional heating controls, which are often unreliable and wasteful, with purpose-built control panels which constantly monitor and control temperature and timings so that premises are optimally heated. Malcolm McKinlay, regional accounts manager at Vickers Electronics, said: “All of our customers are guaranteed a saving on their energy bills. For Wabtec Rail the pledge was 19% but the sub-metering we installed to measure the results has shown we’ve already achieved a 31.4% saving.
