ExxonMobil has launched a next generation series of gas engine oils to keep up with the latest gas engine developments. The Mobil Pegasus 1100 Series has been inspired by major OEMs to cope with severe engine conditions and significantly extend oil drain intervals.
Mobil Pegasus 1100 Series
The natural gas engine series includes Mobil Pegasus 1105 and Mobil Pegasus 1107. Mobil Pegasus 1107 is designed for high severity natural gas engines, whilst Mobil Pegasus 1105 meets the specifications for all piston types. Both lubricants have a well-balanced formulation helping to extend oil drain intervals (ODIs) by up to 1.5 times when compared to conventional mineral oils.
Features and advantages
Following comprehensive industry and bench testing, the lubricants exhibited excellent oxidation and thermal stability, which helps to extend oil life. The series’ outstanding anti-wear characteristics help reduce wear of engine components and scuffing of liners in highly loaded gas engines. In addition, the oil controls varnish formation and carbon deposits helping to maintain engine cleanliness.
“Gas engine development is pushing the boundaries of engine design to try and increase gas engine power and reduce costs.” said Inken Reuser, Industrial Marketing Advisor at ExxonMobil. “In turn, this has put higher demands on lubrication. Our Mobil Pegasus™ 1100 Series is designed to keep up with recent gas engine improvements. The next generation oils, inspired by major OEMs, can help extend oil drain intervals by up to 1.5 times while also maintaining engine protection and cleanliness.”
