UaGate SI is a gateway presented by Softing Industrial, designed for the integration of OPC UA and MQTT communication in existing and new systems with Siemens Simatic controllers. It makes it easy to integrate modern communication technology into Siemens Simatic PLCs. UaGate SI uses the modern security features of the OPC UA standard to protect the transmitted data.
Gateway that can access data blocks
With the firmware version V1.60, uaGate SI can now also access data blocks in Simatic S7-1200 and S7-1500 controllers that work in optimized mode. For this, the user simply switches from the existing to the new Siemens protocol. This means that data in optimized blocks can also be used and further processed in applications outside the controller. Access to optimized blocks is currently not supported by any other hardware gateway.
Gateway’s firmware makes possible to read symbolic information from PLC
The new uaGate SI firmware version now also makes it possible to read symbolic information directly from the Siemens PLC. Thus, the symbol import or the complex configuration of the data points by hand are no longer necessary. The gateway makes the read symbol information available to OPC UA Client applications via the integrated OPC UA Server. These applications then can access the data in all data blocks via the symbolic name.
