The off-grid solution REFUhybrid from REFUenergy aims at leaner processes, increased efficiency and optimized workflows for operations in remote locations. If the generator is running, it supplies electricity to the connected application and, at the same time, charges the built-in batteries in the REFUhybrid. The highlight, however, is this: if the batteries are charged, the generator switches off leaving just the batteries to deliver the necessary energy.
Charging the batteries is significantly faster than discharging.
Until now, generators were selected according to the workload peaks. But because such peaks rarely occur, generators tend to run at only 30% to 50% of their maximum output, and at night time significantly below these levels. This is all very different with the REFUhybrid due to the additional benefits that become available as a result of battery power. The REFUhybrid intercepts load peaks and allows generators to operate in their optimum output range. When little energy is needed, the REFUhybrid switches the diesel generator off and supplies the applications silently using its batteries.
