Inductive position measuring systems from Pepperl+Fuchs operate according tot the principle of inductive proximity switches and react to metallic non-magnetic targets. Steel targets of 8 mm or 13 mm are used depending on the size of the measuring system. These targets are led past the sensor with an air gap of up to 6 mm. Thanks to this large reading distance the measuring system is insensitive to guide tolerances of moving machine parts. The sensor is equipped with active temperature compensation which guarantees reproducible position values. This inductive position measuring system achieves repeat accuracies of up to 0.2 mm.
