The worldwide machine vision market appears to be on the road to recovery after a very difficult six months, according to IMS Research. This is the conclusion after tracking the market on a quarterly basis for the past 2 years. Data for the second quarter of 2009 has indicated that the EMEA and Americas markets have levelled out and EMEA experienced only a slight decline on the previous quarter.
At the same time, the Americas grew slightly and Asia grew at over 10% after a very large decline in the first quarter. The graph illustrates the reasons for this optimism but the question is, will the improvements be sustained? John Morse, who manages the machine vision tracker form the company's headquarters in the UK believes it will, although recovery is likely to be steady rather that meteoric.
