Suitable for such demanding environments as the food and process manufacturing, the optoNCDT 1402SC sensor series from Micro-Epsilon features IP 69K protection in a corrosion resistant V4A stainless steel enclosure. Offering measurement ranges from 5 and 600 mm, it is resistant to high-pressure jet cleaning, as well as aggressive detergents and disinfectants, such as hydrogen peroxide and other alkaline- or chlorine-based cleaning agents. Consuming 50 mA, the sensors may be used in applications where wireless energy transmission is involved. During IP69K protection class testing, the sensors have proven their resistance under extreme operating conditions. In addition to an eight-hour high-pressure jet test with hot water (85°C) and at a pressure of 80 to 100bar, they have been put through an eight-hour dust resistance test. The sensor electronics operate with a measuring frequency of 1.5kHz, reaching a linearity of 0.18% and a resolution of 0.01%.
