Recently Lenze introduced a combination of the Smart Motor and the g500 gearbox range, which is supposed to make life easier for the machine builder when it comes to torque and speed ratio. The basis of this drive solution is provided by the new range of gearboxes, which have been specially designed to convert motor speed into torque asintelligently and precisely as possible. The efficiency achieved over the entire transmission range is higher than 94 %. Because the gearbox losses are so low, themotor does not have to generate as much energy, and at the end of the day thisimproves the efficiency of the entire system. The combination of the motor and the grearbox provides a well dimensioned drive for horizontal materials-handling technology. A lower level of heat is generated, and this increases the overall service life. One feature resulting from this broad mechatronic perspective is that the speed settings in the motor can be adjusted on site with a smartphone app and near field communication (NFC). This means that motor speeds from 500 to 2,600 revolutions per minute with a constant torque can be covered by just one single variant.
