In some applications, after a short movement a stop position is reached and must be held by the drive. This task is usually performed by torque motors, which can be resembled to springs with infinite distance. Including a squirrel-cage rotor, the DRM series torque motors from SEW-EURODRIVE are designed to deliver the rated torque at standstill. While under voltage they can also have their speed matched by another drive to continue running under their own force. The motors’ dimensions are identical with those of the DR series. Just like gear motors, the geared torque motors form a modular system, offering a multitude of gear combinations. Available in sizes 71 to 132, the torque motors can be operated continuously in S1 duty cycle and with forced cooling in S3 duty cycle.
