Available for a wide variety of drive safety solutions, the MOVISAFE UCS50B and UCS51B multi-axis safety modules from SEW-EURODRIVE can easily and quickly be put into operation with all of the company’s inverters. They have integrated logic processors to allow flexible linking of input and outputs as well as axis expansion modules for up to twelve axes. Both logic modules have a 7-segment display, a parameter interface (RS-485) and digital inputs and outputs, the number of which can be increased with additional input and output modules. In total, up to 150 digital inputs/outputs and up to 54 outputs are possible. Both multi-axis logic modules allow for nearly all safety functions according to IEC 61800-5-2. Fulfilling SIL3 requirements, the UCS..B series reliable monitoring of drive function at the axis level according to DIN EN 61800-5-2 and thus enable work to be conducted in hazardous areas under the safety requirements according to EN ISO 13849-1 PL e. Reaction times in emergency situations are significantly reduced through the continuous, reliable monitoring of speed as well as the motion functions and position range of the axes. These modules also make other mechanical protection devices unnecessary. The output signals from the UCS..B safety modules can be optionally forwarded to a safety PLC, such as Profisafe), which can switch off the inverter for safety reasons if there is an error. The moving drive is stopped true to path using a parameterized rapid stop, and the “safe torque off” (STO) is activated after a delay. This allows the axes to come to a halt at a defined location.
