Designed as a no-compromise entry-level ultra fast framing camera system, the SIM-D from Specialised Imaging combines ease of use, ease of maintenance, compactness and high performance. It has the capability of fitting up to 16 individual filters with wavelength from 400 to 850 nm within the optical system. This facility, coupled with the ability to take images at exposures down to 3 ns with zero interframe time enables the accurate study of wavelength dispersion when materials are stressed, the measurement of temperature, and colorimetry. Furthermore, the camera provides the choice of up to 16 separate optical channels without compromising performance or image quality. Effects such as parallax and shading are eliminated and the > 36 lp/mm spatial resolution is the same from frame to frame and in both axes. Individual high resolution intensified CCD detectors, controlled by state-of-the-art electronics, offer almost infinite control over gain and exposure allowing researchers total freedom to capture images of even the most difficult transient phenomena. A novel optical periscope for focus adjustment enables rapid and simple experimental setup and optimization. Comprehensive triggering facilities, highly accurate timing control, and a wide range of output signals, coupled with a software package that includes full measurement and image enhancement functions simplifies image capture. Full remote operation using Ethernet connectivity comes as standard enabling the camera to be easily integrated into almost any environment. A diverse range of applications include automotive testing, biomedical research, combustion research, failure dynamics, impact studies, nanotechnology and university research.
