Press power (on/mem) button to turn the instrument on, hold the instrument within 4 cm (40 mm) from the centre of the forehead and press and hold the 'Start' button until you hear one beep (unless muted) indicating the reading is complete. Readings should take approximately 1 second. The built-in fever alarm (three short beeps followed by one long beep) will sound whenever the oral equivalent temperature exceeds 37.5°C. The bright, blue backlight ensures the display is easy to read, even in poorly lit areas. To ensure long battery life the thermometer will auto power-off after 60 seconds. For added versatility, changing to surface mode will allow measuring the surface temperature of other common items to a maximum temperature of 80°C. The temperature range is switchable between °C and °F.
