KEB COMBIPERM permanent magnet brakes have proven their worth with high reliability, good non-stop operation and above all high output/power density in different robotics tasks.
With conventional industrial robots, permanent magnet brakes are preferably incorporated directly in the servo-motor. However, if there is a particular requirement structural length poses a problem and alternative solutions are required.
The term "Cobots" is used for collaborative robots that handle or support mechanical tasks in direct proximity to people.
The drives in this structure, and therefore permanent magnetic brakes as well, must be of particularly compact design with low power density. Secure retention of the load with no play is ensured by a modified variant of the KEB COMBIPERM, positioned directly in the robot joint. The system is designed to ensure very short switching times, and other criteria in this application include constantly good torque due to rare-earth permanent magnets and high temperature resistance according to ISO class F.
The optimized brake design in the interface with the motor and output provides a particularly compact drive unit in this type of use.
