In the food industry, to prevent goods being delivered with foreign particles, metal detectors are installed in food processing and transport companies. These detectors identify all conductive metallic particles originating in the production environment or transport system. igus has further developed its range of materials to meet this requirement with the new extension of the igubal range, a polymer material that is recognised by metal detectors. The range includes lubricant and maintenance-free rod end bearings and clevis joints, flanged units, press-fit and pedestal bearings. Both the housing and spherical balls are made of detectable plastic. Standard metal detecting systems can detect all potential plastic residues, even down to the tiniest particle, and then select these for rejection.
