In the MGX series, Gimatic has brought together the experience of nearly one million pneumatic grippers produced from 1985 to today. The basic concept is still the one of the old MG series: a low and wide gripper with inclined plane transmission. The rectangular piston has been introduced in the MGX series for the first time. This solution, compared to the more common round or oval piston, allows for the optimal use of available space: more compressed air and less aluminium mean more force and less weight. The result is that we have obtained the grippers with the best weight/power ratio on the market. The pistons, moulded from acetal resin, also have slots for optional springs, used in the –NC (normally closed) and –NO (normally open) versions. The jaws, which are made from hardened stainless steel, are as long as the gripper for maximizing the contact surface and guarantee a long life of the guides. In fact, these grippers are guaranteed to 40 million cycles and allow the use of particularly high gripping tools. The operating position can be checked by inductive, magnetic and analogue sensors.
