The PO2300 incremental encoder kit consists of a microcoil sensor and a linear or rotational target. The microcoil inductive sensor works like a linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) or a resolver. The target consists of a PCB with copper patterns. The eddy currents created in the copper patterns modulate the coupling between the primary and secondary windings of the microcoil sensor. These targets are simple single-sided PCB with one copper layer covered by a solder mask, and thus resistant against liquids and mechanical impact. Rotational targets with different diameters and linear targets up to 300mm are available. Factory programming allows an optimal sensor-configuration for varying applications: high-speed (up to 50m/s), high-resolution (below1µm) or wide airgap (up to 1mm). Typical applications are found in the motion-control domain with magnetic actuators like brushed and brushless motors, voice coil actuators etc.
