Belden introduces its latest addition to the OCTOPUS family from Hirschmann - the OCTOPUS OS24/34 switch. With new Power over Ethernet Plus (PoE+) functionalities, system engineers no longer need additional cabling to supply power to end devices, and can connect devices directly to the switch.
"The trend toward Power over Ethernet is raising the standards for Ethernet devices," said Rolf-Dieter Sommer, product manager at Hirschmann. "To keep pace with these increased data demands, our product series now delivers greater, more reliable power while reducing space and weight, which optimizes power budgets for system engineers working in harsh, industrial settings."
The open ordering system allows for tailor-made PoE+ switches to meet specific application requirements, giving customers options for fiber or copper ports, port counts up to 28 and power supply for multiple input voltage ranges, from 24 to 110 Volt Direct Current (VDC) and 100 to 230 Volt Alternating Current (VAC). With IP65 and IP67 ratings, the switch meets the requirements of routing functions in waterproof and dust-tight housings for mounting outside of cabinets, and operates at temperatures ranging from -40° C to +70° C.
These features make the OCTOPUS OS24/34 well-equipped for transportation, automotive, machine building and manufacturing environments, including onboard train networks, passenger information systems in train stations, conveyer systems and traffic surveillance on highways and bridges and in tunnels. The new OCTOPUS OS24/34 meets market specific regulations, including EN 50155 for operating conditions in railway vehicles, EN 50121-4 for railway lines, EN 45545 for trains, GL for ships and e1 for use in road vehicles.
