When engineering new Supervision projects today it is essential that they are designed to last with long term vision by taking into account the direction in which automation software technology is evolving.

Porgea has invested a great deal in Research and Development for Automation Platform.NExT by creating a cutting edge platform based on the most advanced technologies. In particular they have used the OPC-UA standard as an intrinsic and native information model in their architecture framework to ensure that users get maximum interoperability that they can rely on.

The OPU-UA standard represents the new standard in industrial communications, defined IEC 62541, on which any Industry 4.0 and IoT business strategy can be based on.

OPC UA-based communication makes connecting systems at every factory level, from field sensors, controllers, HMI to business managerial systems, simple by using the same communication protocol that all the most modern systems come ready with. The OPC UA stack is independent from platforms and hardware (cross platform) and can be implemented at all levels and in microcontrollers as well (PLC, PAC, and others). In addition it offers maximum data security thus most suitable for distributed connectivity in public networks.

Progea is a convinced supporter of the OPC technology and a member of the OPC Foundation Consortium for almost 20 years as well as official representatives of OPC Foundation Italy. In this context Platform.NExT, in addition to supporting the OPC UA specifications has also been certified with the validation procedure of OPC Consortium: https://opcfoundation.org/products/view/397

The use of the OPC UA technology specifications are in fact an intrinsic and native to Automation Platform.NExT satisfying platform-independent needs and enabling the creation of rich and extendible data models to describe complex systems as well. It is for this reason that the Progea platform's information model is totally based on OPC-UA, with the DA, A&E and HA specifications. The specifications are totally integrated making the platform's components modular on both Client and Server sides.

This certification is also recognition of the company's efforts to implement this technology in their software to the benefit of users operating in the world of automation who believe in the future of total connectivity.
