Especially in the sector of vehicle manufacturing, where you have right-hand and left-hand drive versions, as well as a passenger and driver's rear view mirror, individuality is an essential criterion.
The rotary indexing machine of the company itus Industrietechnik und Sondereinrichtungen GmbH has been constructed for an automobile supplier using the item MB Building Kit System and allows an extremely economical processing of the inner parts of different types of outside rear view mirrors.
After the worker has placed the workpiece on an exchangeable support with a quick change horizontal clamp, the workpiece carrier is indexed for the first operating sequence. For the first two operating sequences, the thread rolling of the tube parts is performed after an automatic workpiece presence and tool breakage check. In this case, the machine is designed in such a way that when the workpiece carrier is changed, there is no need to adjust the drilling units.
After the thread rolling, the piece is automatically removed by a three axis handling device with a pneumatic gripper arm.
A touch screen, which is also used to set various programme parameters, allows the user to continuously see in which stage of the manufacturing the machine is.
One more security aspect: To avoid industrial accidents, the side from which the workpieces are put in has been equipped with a light curtain. The process is immediately interrupted when some one enters their arm into the machine at that moment.
For this type of application, a stable basic frame is essential, therefore the whole construction is made of aluminium profiles of Line 8 of the item MB Building Kit System. Nevertheless, not only the basic frames from the MB Building Kit System, but also the machine's protective enclosure are composed of item Profiles of Lines 8 and 6 associated to the numerous components from the Building Kit System. Electric cables were routed through item Conduits and Cable Entry Protectors for a clear layout.
