Two new functions are available for the safety card PMCprotego S in Pilz's drive technology product range. With "Safely Limited Position" (SLP) and "Safely Limited Increment" (SLI), applications with position-based safety functions can be safeguarded economically and in a user friendly manner. This expands the company's portfolio for safe motion. These two new functions can be used to implement applications with position-based safety functions. "Safely Limited Position" (SLP) monitors end limits, such as safe range monitoring on robots or linear axes. "Safely Limited Increment" (SLI) ensures that each transport step is safely limited when material is fed into the process, on the roll feed on presses for example. In conjunction with Safely Limited Speed (SLS), the SLI function enables axes to be operated in safe jog mode. If a limit value on the drive is violated, the drive is always shut down safely by the safety card. Safe motion is the combination of the safety card PMCprotego S and the servo amplifier PMCprotego D. The combination of drive and safety means that motion, stop and brake functions guarantee the safety of personnel during operation, setup, format change or maintenance, while at the same time increasing productivity. Users benefit from highly dynamic, short reaction times, simple, fast commissioning and operation, plus the highest safety level with only one encoder. All safety functions with PMCprotego DS meet the requirements of the Machinery Directive based on IEC 61800-5-2 and are designed up to PL e of EN ISO 13849-1 and SIL CL 3 of EN/IEC 62061.
