The increasing pace and the huge quantities of goods handled is a big challenge for modern harbour logistics processes. Safety and availability of the systems are more important than ever. A high availability, which results from a decreased time needed for maintenance, increases the profitability of a harbour crane significantly.
The new overload monitoring system ECPS from tecsis is especially designed for harbour cranes and guarantees a safe and reliable operation. The system monitors crucial parameters and prevents overload situations. The system consists of a central electronic unit and the respective transducers, which are integrated at different positions on the crane. For example the load pins type F5308 from tecsis can be used. Due to there design they can be integrated directly into the crane, replacing for example an existing bolt in fork bearings. The force transducers are equipped with the thin-film sensors from tecsis, which ensure excellent creep properties, high precision and reliability. The load pins fulfill industrial protection class IP69k and are optional available as ATEX version for explosive environments. Therefore tecsis has the right products for use under harsh conditions.
The hardware and software of the central unit has a modular design, which allows an easy adoption to the application. The system can be configured and put into operation with a PC software. Configuration is also possible with an optional keypad and the build-in text display. The system automatically runs regular auto-check routines of the software and monitors the safety relays, guaranteeing the required level of operational reliability and safety. Interfaces for Profibus and CAN are available as an option.
Depending on the application the system can fulfill the requirements up-to performance level e according to ISO 13849-1. The overload monitoring system ECPS is designed for the use with harbour cranes, container cranes, straddle carriers, forklift trucks, and reach stackers.
