On September 1, 1970, the first subsidiary of SCHURTER AG started operations in Endingen, Baden-Württemberg in Germany. Number of employees: 12. Production site: a former cigar factory in need of renovation.
At the end of the 1960s, Western Europe was in a state of transition. What we know today as the European Union of nearly 30 member states was in the founding phase of its predecessor institutions. At the same time in Switzerland, SCHURTER AG in Lucerne was under the management of Rolf Schurter, the son of the company founder Heinrich Schurter. Things were going well. The production capacities were exhausted, space was in short supply and it was time to think about expansion.
