Ruhrgetriebe offers worm gear motors, starting at 0.09 kW, which offer the highest levels of efficiency. This pushes the company far beyond the provisions of current legislature, that merely states that three-phase low voltage motors with a rated output of 0.75 - 375 kW, must reach the premium efficiency class IE3 by January 2015. So far, there are no legal regulations regarding the ecological design of electric motors in the lower power range. As a manufacturer of worm and worm spur gearboxes, the company is aware of its particular responsibilities in the energy saving process: More than half of the total energy consumption comes from machines that are powered by electric motors.
