With its new 221 Series of compact splicing connectors, WAGO is providing electrical installers with a means of implementing more rapid, more simple, more reliable and safer installation of the most varying types of wires: solid, fine-stranded and stranded. Compared to its tried and tested predecessor (222 Series), this new connector requires 40% less space on account of its own reduced dimensions. This makes connections possible even in small, difficult to access installation spaces. With a permissible nominal current of 32 A and a nominal voltage of 450 V, the 221 Series is well-suited for various applications.
The connector's transparent housing now makes it possible to clearly see when wires have not been inserted far enough, or when they have not been stripped over the proper length. Two easily accessible test slots, one in the wire entry direction and one opposite this, provide easy test conditions, even when installed. The operating levers can now also be opened using noticeably less force.
The 221 Series is available as 2-, 3- and 5-wire connectors (221-412, 221-413, 221-415) and can safely connect fine-stranded wires ranging in size from 0.14 to 4 mm2 (AWG 24-12), as well as solid and stranded wires from 0.2 to 4 mm2 (AWG 24-12). This provides for the widest range of applications - especially when different types of wires and different wire sizes are used together. Typical applications in building technology include the connection of lighting, blind motors and wiring of intercom systems and door and gate control systems. Among other things, the connector is suited for wiring motors and pumps in industrial applications.
