Available with RS-485 data protocol, the IDEA stepper motor drive module from Haydon Kerk Motion Solutions is now capable of communicating over a network of > 300 m without the need for termination resistors. The system architecture allows up to 256 addressable device nodes. An industrial controller can send commands to all the drives at once, or each drive can be controlled separately when assigned a unique identifier, a number between 0 and 255. RoHS compliant, the IDEA platform is a small footprint electronic drive and control unit with easy-to-use GUI programming. Hardware features include programmable current control, 12 to 48VDC single supply voltage, 2.6 Arms (3.68 Apk) maximum rated current per phase, and 8 opto-isolated general purpose I/O. The inputs are rated for 5 to 24 VDC, 4mA maximum per input. The outputs are open collector, 5 to 24 VDC, 200mA maximum per output.
