Sustainable Thinking. Digital Acting.

“Sustainable thinking. Digital acting.” is SEW-EURODRIVE’s motto for HANNOVER MESSE this year. On a space measuring some 1600 square meters the Bruchsal-based drive and automation specialist is showcasing how the future of sustainable industrial production can start taking shape now with the help of digitalization and artificial intelligence.

The global, family-run business has therefore adopted a futuristic design for its exhibit, taking visitors on a virtual journey to exciting “planets” in its digital “spaceship“.
The planets represent the homes of actual systems and machines for different sectors and applications. These are connected digitally via the bridge of the spaceship (the control center), from where they are operated and monitored. There will also be livestreams with distant Canada , the HANNOVER MESSE partner country this year, enabling real-time digital interaction with several real machines in the SEW-EURODRIVE branch there.

The application exhibits at the stand in Hannover and the machines at SEW-EURODRIVE in Canada deliver a constant stream of information to the cockpit of the spaceship. Depicted by beams of light, all these data streams converge and can be used to create digital twins of the systems and machines. This makes it possible for visitors to clearly see and understand how energy-efficient, futuristic technology and innovative digital concepts can be leveraged to fully automate factories in sustainable, efficient ways.
Several systems and machines can be experienced live in a futuristic melding of the real world with the digital world at SEW-EURODRIVE.

A fun way to experience research

Whether it’s playing football with drones in the careers section or AI-assisted person detection at the “Marketplace Campus”, SEW-EURODRIVE invites visitors to have fun while exploring innovation and research in the field of automation technology. A delivery robot with a special sensor attachment demonstrates how both objects and people can be reliably detected using artificial intelligence. Other research activities that the company is undertaking at its Bruchsal campus are also on display. What’s more, the trade fair stand demonstrates very clearly that innovation only truly takes off when appropriate collaborations are established. To highlight this, the stand therefore involves cooperation partners from Germany and Canada.
