A modular dosing control module, driven by synchronous geared motors, is essential for the Blue Lagoon range of environmentally friendly ultraviolet light water disinfection systems.
Van Erp International, the Netherlands based designer and manufacturer of water treatment products for commercial and consumer swimming pools, spas and jacuzzis, is known for its innovative Blue Lagoon range of environmentally friendly ultraviolet (UV) light water disinfection systems.
Drastically reducing the use of chlorine and other chemicals, the range renders a lethal effect on waterborne microorganisms using a superior and safer disinfection compound in combination with special UV-C wavelength lamps that Van Erp helped to develop with the global electronics giant Philips. For precise dosing control, the Blue Lagoon range also includes digital programmable peristaltic dosing pumps and filtration pump systems that are driven by Rotalink's AC synchronous geared motors.
Van Erp International and Rotalink worked closely on the modular dosing control module for the Blue Lagoon range which is used across several products in single or multiple use. The design brief included compactness, performance, reliability, fast time to market and low cost. To ensure the most reliable and efficient pump system a number of AC synchronous motor and ovoid gearbox combinations were thoroughly tested at Rotalink using its in-house design, production and test facilities. This concurrent product development process involved simulated pumping trials with various dosing pumps supplied by Van Erp International, helping reduce its own development burden and speeding development timescales.
‘Our working relationship with Rotalink is an important part of our philosophy to combine high quality and large scale production techniques with close contact to the World’s best suppliers,’ explains Ms. Dami Leifkins, Van Erp International's Director of Sales. 'Rotalink have helped us at every stage of product development and continue to add value with excellent support in the production phase.’
Rotalink manufactures and supplies complete miniature power transmission assemblies that include brushed and brushless DC motors, AC synchronous or stepper motors with innovative gearboxes, feedback sensors and motion controls - for applications up to 200W and peak gearbox torque to 26Nm.
