At the Sustainable Oceans Brands on 14 - 16 November 2019 in Porto, Portugal, the Centre for Regenerative Design and Collaboration (CRDC) presented its fully scalable, zero waste solution for the recovery of plastic bags, global patent rights pending. At the event, Donald Thomson, CRDC’s founder, explained the technology behind the solution to the global plastic crisis and introduced the business plan, effectively launching the initiative.

Cross-industry collaboration

The CRDC plan will recover all kinds of plastic bags and transform them into a synthetic construction aggregate, which can then be employed in civil infrastructure and housing. The end product is characterized by enhanced strength and is significantly lighter than traditional concrete aggregates (up to 75% lighter).
Thanks to strategic cross-industrial partnerships with waste management, petrochemical, construction and concrete industries as well as the coordination with global NGOs, the initiative is ready to be implemented worldwide.
